HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, and CAMM sign MOU for metastructure utilization and research 2025.04.01

LIG Nex1, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, and the Center for Advanced Meta-Materials (CAMM) signed an MOU to jointly conduct metastructure business and commercialization at the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials in Daejeon. The companies agreed to establish and operate the manned/unmanned maritime weapon system/vessel stealth metastructure joint research center within the CAMM.
The companies will collaborate in several areas, including joint participation in major defense technology initiatives and system projects in the metastructure sector; joint submission of proposals for new business opportunities; joint planning of future metastructure applications; and hosting technical seminars on metastructure and maritime weapons systems.

Metastructures are materials or structures that exhibit properties not found in natural substances. They are expected to enable innovative technology in the defense sector by artificially controlling sound, light, and heat. An LIG Nex1 official said, “We will try to integrate our development experience across all areas of defense with CAMM’s highly advanced technical skills to enhance next-generation national defense capabilities.”
