LIG Nex1 signs MOU for cooperation in developing manned and unmanned complex solutions 2025.05.28

· Partnership advancing AI capabilities for manned and unmanned teaming and autonomous operations
· Cooperation sought in joint development and global market exploration to help lead the development of manned/unmanned complex solutions

LIG Nex1 (CEO: Shin Ick-hyun) joined forces with Shield AI, a leading U.S. technology company in the field of AI-based autonomous flight,
to advance development capabilities on key optimized solutions for the future battlefield including manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) and autonomous operations.

The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Shield AI for the joint development of specialized solutions for the future battlefield at the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX) 2025 in Busan,
on May 28. Shin Ick-hyun, CEO of LIG Nex1, and Brandon Tseng, Co-founder and CEO of Shield AI, were at the signing.

Through the MOU, the two companies will cooperate to explore and implement various plans such as integration of LIG Nex1’s mission systems with Shield AI’s unmanned platforms, weapon systems, and sensors; d
evelopment of autonomous operation systems optimized for MUM-T environments; and joint efforts to enter and expand in global defense markets.

Weapon systems are advancing and evolving through the convergence of hyper-intelligence, hyper-connectivity, and multi-domain integration with MUM-T at the center,
while the development of appropriate operation solutions and platform integration capabilities emerges as a key priority in the defense sector.

LIG Nex1 hopes to lead the R&D of next-generation weapon systems in the rapidly evolving battlefield environment by combining its expertise in unmanned systems, guided weapons, and ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) with Shield AI’s battle-proven autonomy platform.
