LIG Nex1 collaborates with the U.K.’s Babcock Marine through a teaming agreement (TA)

LIG Nex1 and Babcock Marine will pursue active collaboration in new overseas shipbuilding projects and for expansion in global maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) service markets.
The two companies signed a teaming agreement for the development of ship MRO business and new joint shipbuilding projects at the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX) 2025 in Busan, on May 29.
Park Tae-sik, Head of the Missile Systems Business Division at LIG Nex1, and Ilgi Kim, Chief Commercial Officer at Babcock, attended the signing event.
The agreement includes their intention to cooperate in offering integrated solutions to customers in the global ship market, from new shipbuilding projects to MRO services.
The two companies will jointly carry out new shipbuilding projects as well as the co-development of integrated MRO solutions for unmanned surface vehicles and overseas ship MRO initiatives.
They plan to boost their partnership through cooperation based on LIG Nex1’s various solutions for ship mission equipment and armament alongside Babcock’s expertise in shipbuilding and design.
LIG Nex1 noted, “We will offer integrated solutions for management of both mass-production and MRO to enable customers to concentrate on combat.
We expect that the agreement will lead to improved competitiveness in global markets through the combined capabilities of the two companies.”
Babcock Marine, based in the U.K., is a leading global defense company that built the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers and manages the total life cycle MRO for the British Royal Navy.
