LIG Nex1 wins ‘rear area sub-division level tactical communication system’ contract in Korean army’s inaugural rapid demonstration project 2025.11.07
“Development of next-generation communication systems to lead hyper-connectivity, super-intelligence and networking”
· Support for high-speed, high-volume data transmission and reception using varied military platforms and civilian commercial base station networks

LIG Nex1 is entering into the development of next-generation communication systems equipment optimized for rear operations in the Republic of Korea.
The company announced that it signed a contract for a rear area sub-division level tactical communication system (rear area tactical communication system hereinafter) in the first rapid demonstration project led by the country’s army. The project, worth KRW 9.7 billion, will run until 2027.

The rear area tactical communication system uses existing infrastructure of civilian commercial communication networks (5G/LTE) to support high-speed, high-volume data transmission and reception of various military platforms. Notably, it can overcome the weakness of the army’s conventional tactical mobile communication system that has limited network coverage and can be linked with satellite communication terminals in rear areas to assist a commander’s rapid decision making without interruption in any operational environment.

In this project, LIG Nex1 will develop communication devices interoperable with commercial communication networks through cooperation with KT and SKT. Each device will be produced in modular forms applicable to a variety of platform systems and the network can be automatically switched to army satellite network or alternative networks in case of commercial network disruption, thereby contributing to the reinforcement of military capability.
An official from LIG Nex1 noted, “With the rapid advancement and sophistication of weapon systems based on hyper-connectivity, super-intelligence, and networking, swift development of next-generation communication is emerging as a major national challenge. Based on LIG Nex1’s technological competence and expertise regarding the tactical multiband multirole radio (TMMR), command and control, and space projects, we will accelerate the development of a next-generation communication system that will contribute to our military capability in the future.”
