LIG Nex1 embarked on market expansion in unmanned/autonomous systems, rising as game changers on today’s battlefield, with a focus on the manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T).
The company is taking part in the Unmanned Systems Exhibition and Conference (UMEX) 2026, being held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, for three days from January 20. About 200 companies from 35 countries are participating in this year’s UMEX – an exhibition centered on future warfare featuring robots, unmanned systems, drones, and AI solutions.
At UMEX 2026, LIG Nex1 introduces Sea Sword-X, a concept model for modular unmanned surface vessel capable of diverse missions such as surveillance and reconnaissance, combat, and anti-drone defense, as well as Sea Sword-X and other robots and unmanned systems optimized for local environments including small reconnaissance and strike drones.
At the same time, the company is showcasing Vision 60, a quadruped robot drawing keen attention as a manned-unmanned teaming system applicable to defense and civilian sectors, through strategic collaboration with Ghost Robotics.
It also displays advanced technological products, which can contribute to reinforcing the air defense capabilities of local military, such as L-SAM, a long-range surface-to-air missile capable of long-range high-altitude interception; M-SAM II, a medium-range medium-altitude interception system; and an integrated counter-drone system.
LIG Nex1 has been participating in defense industry exhibitions in countries including UAE and Saudi Arabia since 2009 with its eyes on the Middle East as a strategic market. In particular, the company plans to use this opportunity to showcase its differentiated R&D expertise in national defense and engage in promotional activities for the expansion of export and technological cooperation in the rapidly growing future warfare market targeting local military officials.
LIG Nex1 CEO Shin Ick-hyun commented, “Today’s battlefield is undergoing rapid transformation with manned–unmanned teaming, artificial intelligence, and drones. We hope that this exhibition will help us build a leading position in the global market with a focus on the field of future warfare, which is experiencing significant growth in demand.”
